Studies in History and Philosophy at KU Leuven – PhD in History (2000) at KU Leuven. His dissertation focused on Renaissance astrology at the late medieval University of Louvain (Leuven). – Postdoctoral position at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore – three years before returning to Belgium. Lecturer at KU Brussel before moving to Ghent University.
Heute arbeiten KU Leuven und UCLouvain teilweise wieder zusammen, sind aber getrennte Universitäten mit unterschiedlichen Sprachen und Verwaltungen.
Krakau als Astrologiezentrum im 15. Jh. – zentrale Figur war Albert von Brudzewo (Albertus de Brudzewo), der Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts in Krakau lehrte. – Er war bedeutend für kritische Kommentare zu Ptolemäus – Weiterentwicklung mathematischer Astronomie – Einfluss auf spätere Schüler wie Nikolaus Kopernikus, der in Krakau studierte (1490er Jahre) – Krakau war damit ein indirekter Ausgangspunkt für das spätere kopernikanische Weltbild.
